As you might imagine, tea is hugely important to us and we serve more than 6 million cups at our cafes and restaurants each year.
As a conservation charity responsible for looking after special places, we take our food sourcing responsibility very seriously which is why we only buy tea that has a comprehensive approach towards promoting good farming practices that protect the environment and support farming communities.
We also want to offer our customers a quality product.
We are in active discussions with our suppliers of tea as well as the Fairtrade Foundation, Ethical Tea Partnership and the Rainforest Alliance to ensure that we continue to take the right approach for the National Trust when it comes to selecting what tea to serve in our catering outlets.
As part of these discussions, we are conducting more research into the conservation standards around the sourcing of products such as tea and coffee over the next six months to ensure we continue to make informed decisions and to ascertain who is aligned most to our own conservation goals.
